Pugsley has always been bigger than Sprite, but she was never intimidated by his size and always gave as good as she got. Because of this I was originally going to call her Spirit, but I got lazy and ended up calling her Sprite. How bad is that if it's too much to say a two syllable word! I never had trouble saying Pugsley which is also two syllables, but for some reason Spirit just didn't role off the tongue as easily. You certainly don't think sprite or fairy when you see Sprite - she's the second largest cat in the family. (The largest, of course, is her brother Puglsey.) But Webster's definition of sprite is 'an imaginary being or spirit', so maybe I was right after all.
There are three unusual things about Sprite. The first is her coloring. Technically, she's a calico, but she doesn't look like most calicos - more like a Siamese calico!? She's changed a lot since she was a kitten - she's gotten darker as she's gotten older.
The second unusual thing about her is that she can't jump. At least she can't seem to jump UP. I've had the vet check her out and she says nothing's wrong except maybe her weight. Sometimes she has trouble jumping up on the couch. The other day she got behind an old TV that's in the corner of my living room. It's only 17 inches high and she had to try 4 or 5 times before she finally was able to jump on top of it. But yet she doesn't seem to have a problem jumping up and over to things. She can jump from the bed over to the window sill and that's a space of 36 inches. It doesn't seem to make sense.

The last thing that's different about her is her gait. Sometimes she trots and almost prances like a horse. None of my other cats move like she does.
Sprite is almost as mellow as her mom Violet. She's a sweet kitty even though sometimes her love bites are a little overenthusiastic. She never sits on my lap, but nearly always sleeps on my bed with me at night.
